Do You Journal?

One thing that I wish I did more of is journaling. There is nothing better for a racing mind than to be able to sit down and get everything out of your head and onto a piece of paper.

I find it the most cathartic when using a pencil and paper as opposed to typing. There is a different feel and connection when using those tools, a connection to the words that you are putting down that are pouring out of your head.

To take the time to journal is to take time for yourself, to understand yourself better, to plan for your dreams, to get out of your head whatever may be holding you back.

Journaling can actually become your second brain if you keep up with it long enough. I once heard that the brain is for processing ideas, problems, and thoughts, not for holding onto information. That my friends are where the journal comes into play, it is there to store all your thoughts and ideas for you to go back to see where you were on a particular given day and what ideas you may be able to bring to life now that you were not ready to bring to life before.

Journaling takes practice, dedication, and a mind full of racing thoughts that you just stop. Just kidding about that last part, but it does help to keep up a steady diet of word vomitization.

To journal is to free one's mind of the things that are holding us back or clogging our creative work streams. It is time to let them out, capture those ideas, and run with them.
