Is Corporate America Destroying our Mental Health

I have been in the “working on someone else's dream” game for quite some time now. I have chosen this path as I have believed that I am not someone who has the pair needed to break off on their own and start their own thing or that I do not have the ideas that would allow for this.

For those of us in the corporate rat race walk a fine line of being sucked into the world of helping complete someone else's dreams and living our lives with our own dreams.

Since we all have basic needs to meet, like food, shelter, water, and clothing there usually is no choice but to dive into the dreams of others as those folks are willing to exchange money for your time and effort. This money can then be used to provide for our basic needs and then some for ourselves and our family.

With the volatility of the workforce on any given day the amount of stress that we place on ourselves to make sure we are on top of and delivering the best work we can to help someone else reach their goals in exchange for a currency has been increased so much over the years.

So much so that stress-related medical conditions like anxiety and depression have reached an all-time high. Now tack on the rise of social media with everyone posting their highlight reels the world has either knowingly or unknowingly placed ticking time bombs into the heads of all the humans in developed countries.

It is my belief that as humans we make sure that we set up boundaries for ourselves that we create from our own beliefs, the beliefs that we had when we were young before society started chewing us up.

This is not an easy task and is a large piece of my own struggles that I deal with today along with most people on the planet who have entered the rat race of life. However I believe it can be fixed and we can take back our power as humans and thrive once again as a society not controlled by others but by working, contributing, and helping others as a collective.

Corporate America does a great job of keeping hundreds of thousands of people employed and providing for their needs but make sure to be on the lookout for yourself that you don’t get stuck in an endless ride on the carousel of life that you never get off and enjoy any of the other rides.
