Laid Off

It has now been 55 days since I was laid off, this has to be one of the oddest and most interesting times in my life to date. It has also been one of the most educational times when learning about yourself, like how you process things and how much of a procrastinator you are.

Now that I am at the 55-day mark and have to start the job search all over again, as I have tapped out my current funnel of jobs, I am discovering new things about myself that I never knew before. I am also finding things that I have known about that need to be taken care of as soon as possible.

On this day we have also hit the first day for the last quarter of the year which means we have one full quarter to get our shit together, execute on that shit and get shit done. There is a tremendous amount of work ahead of me and I am intimidated as shit but I know I can get it all done and have the outcome that I want.

The thing with being laid off is that you can’t tell if it is your fault or not and that does not even matter as you are thrust into a new world where all that you knew has been replaced with chaos. It takes time to unwind from years and years of programming and ask yourself some tough questions about who you are, what you want to do for the rest of your life, and just how long this can go on for.

I am going to be setting myself up with some pretty hefty challenges now that I am this far into unemployment and have a time crunch to the end of living in a somewhat comfortable way, aka the end of the year.

I am not going to beat myself up or kill myself by slamming through mindless tasks, I am going to live life to the fullest and do some things that I have always done right from the comforts of my own home. What? you may ask, what am I going to do over the next 3 months, well we are going to dedicate time to ourselves and my family. I am to take extra good care of myself and get into the fittest shape of my life, I am going to write every day for both Medium and a draft of a book, I am going to apply for more jobs than humanly possible and am going to spend as much fun time with my family as I can. The next three months shall be wild.

By doing all of these things I should be able to reach some personal goals of mine and god willing find my next job. Well let's start this adventure with spending the rest of the day, that is what is left of it, and get organized for what is going to be an epic quarter.
