My Terry Pratchett Challenge
In 33 weeks I turn 40. I want to have fun a challenge that I can chip away at that will encompass a couple of goals that I would like to accomplish. So I have decided to embark in reading the 41 Books of Terry Pratchett’s Discworld in chronological order before my birthday and write as much as I can about this crazy adventure.
Truth be told I do not know much about Mr. Pratchett, other than he has passed and has worked with one of my favorite writers, Neil Gaiman. So I will also be attempting to learn as much as I can about him as a person along with him as a writer.
I thought of this challenge as I just started to read the first book In the series, “The Color of Magic,” and have also been trying to find some inspiration to kick my ass back into the literary world. What better way to read and write more than to challenge yourself to both activities in some kind of twisted way.
With my 40th birthday looming there is no better date to set for the completion of this challenge than that one.
I am not sure where this journey will take me or how I will be able to keep up, but hell if I no anything that this is going to be more interesting to me than something like this. I am going to try to write as much as I can about what i’m reading, where I am in the challenge and what I think of the books in order to keep myself accountable and work on building up my writing muscle.
So by my calculations I will need to ready around 1.25 books a week in order to keep up pace for this challenge.
Lets see what we can do.
