Ever since I was diagnosed with General Anxiety Disorder I have been on the medication roller coaster. At this point, I think I have tried everything there is. However, this time I may have found the combination of medications that are working for me.
The medication game while dealing with anxiety is one of the hardest battles I have had to fight, you know you are getting help but you don't know when it will come and in what form it will be. There are so many types of medications and therapy out there it really comes down to trial and error when you are trying to find the right fit for you.
What works for someone else may not necessarily work for you and what works for you may work for someone else but just in different dosages and a different type of therapy.
There are several things you should keep in mind when you are either going through this process or just starting out. Time! It all takes time to work, there is no immediate answer unless you are looking for short-term goals then sure there are short-term solutions. However, if you are looking to play the long game then buckle up.
The combination of therapy and medication is very important if you are struggling with mental health issues. One does not work without the other and to be honest, there is a third component to the entire workflow and that piece is you!
Not only do you need to be dedicated to the changes you want to see in your life but you have to be willing to put in the extra work (this is where I struggling right now).
Your physical health and well-being play such an important role in getting your mind back in order. There really is a trifecta at play here and each corner needs your full attention in order to pull yourself from your bootstraps and get your shit together.
There is one last piece to the puzzle and that is how you spend your day. What do you do all day long, are you active? are you just sitting and living that corporate lifestyle? Are you playing video games all day or are you doing something that you love?
In all of those cases, the biggest thing to denote is that you are spending the day doing something that you love. Spend the majority of your time in a safe, productive, loving, and loved environment and you hit have hit a piece of gold that will help with putting all the other pieces together that much easier. If you are not there yet with how you spend your day then add that to the list of things that you should be working on.
Connect the dots between your medication, therapy, physical health, and how you are spending your time and you have found the ultimate balance that should lead you to health and happiness.
